The desks

Each published story is assigned to a desk by subject. The desk name appears as a category chip on the story and in its breadcrumbs, and it explains which kind of material the story draws on.

  • Macro — markets, trade, rates and the companies affected by them. Sources are exchanges, filings and market wires.
  • Government — public institutions, policy and regulators. Sources are official releases, institutional statements and the newsrooms that cover them.
  • Sovereignty — jurisdiction, borders, data and self-rule. Sources are treaties, court filings and specialist outlets.
  • Frontier Tech — artificial intelligence, chips, biotech and technology still being argued over.
  • Culture — media, music, sport and the industries that hold public attention.
  • Health — public health, medicine and environment.
  • Insider Watch — SEC insider filings and congressional trade disclosures, published under Macro or Government. Document work, not commentary.
  • The Brief — several wire items read together and condensed into one account.

Automated wire intake

The Apex Wire is the automated intake account. It holds the raw feed items before they are composed. It never publishes a story on its own: every draft it produces goes through editorial review before it can reach the public site. Its runs are logged with counts of items seen, new, duplicated, composed, published and blocked.
